"Cockroachs and Drug addicts"

I stayed here for one night For work purposes. I highly reread it and wish I would’ve just slept in my car! The issue started shortly after midnight when the room next to me room 231 has someone at the door banging and knocking constantly nonstop… When I tried to peek through the curtains, I noticed they were not your typical Hotel clientele. From your physical appearance, it was obvious that they were somehow transitional, but definitely on drugs. I called the front desk between midnight and 4 AM asking them to please do something about it as I did not want to step out of my door and ask myself because I didn’t feel safe. Each time the front desk agent told me he would do something about it, but it never stopped. The last time I called the front desk I asked if I could be moved rooms and I was told that was not possible. Then I wake up and I try to get myself together and leave as soon as possible but upon doing so I discovered that there are cockroaches crawling everywhere, which I am posting photos of. When I went to check out and brought the key to the desk, I asked to speak to a manager, who was there her name is Yesenia. Yesenia, I don’t know how you got your job Because your customer service skills were as good as that of a 16-year-old who is just learning… you told me you would call me back by the end of the day. It is now a week later and I have called the hotel five times left my information not once have you returned my call not even calling me and saying please be patient. I’m working on it nothing. Once I got home, I left my bag in my vehicle. I had to go to the store and get a fogger and fog my car with my bag open because I didn’t want to risk the chance of bringing any pest into my home. Cleanliness and customer service are at the base to any hotel, regardless of how many stars they have… DO NOT STAY HERE!

"American Horror Story; Hotel Iris"
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5

Oh, Iris Hotel, where do I begin? Maybe with the two cockroaches I found—one by the bed and another in the bathtub. It’s not every day you feel the need to wear sandals in a hotel room, yet still want a full-body disinfectant afterward. But cockroaches are the least of your worries here. The real horror is the people who seem to live at this hotel, clearly dealing drugs. When we left our room to grab a bite, we returned to find a drugged-out woman standing by our door—a disturbing sight. And let’s not forget the building’s condition: cracked concrete and shaky floors. One small earthquake, and this place could collapse. The service wasn’t any better. The general manager, a guy from India, got offended when I mentioned the cockroach issue, and he was hard to understand, as was the rest of the staff from India. To top it off, they looked dirty, which didn’t inspire any confidence in the hotel’s cleanliness. So, if you’re into creepy crawlies, shady characters, and questionable safety, Iris Hotel is the place for you. I’d call this stay 'American Horror Story: Iris Hotel.' Bravo, Iris Hotel, you’ve truly set the bar low.

"If you’re looking for a cute hotel with San Diego charm , this is NOT the hotel to go to."
TripAdvisor user rating 1.0 out of 5

This hotel seems like it should be a pay by the hour type of hotel. Upon looking at the pictures, the hotel looked cute and was in a great location. However when we actually arrived at the hotel we were met with a room that had gashes taken out of the furniture, tiles that were loose and popping up on the floor, stains on the furniture and headrest, a toilet that wasn’t secured to the floor, mold in the bathroom, insects in the room, a mirror that had chunks taken out of it, a jacuzzi tub that was filthy and had a shower head installed in it with no shower curtain, just a drain in middle of the bathroom floor. It was also supposedly a non-smoking room but reeked of cigarettes. The walls were so thin you could practically hear the people next door breathing. For the price I paid for this room, I expected a lot better than this dump. If I was able to get my money back, I would have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express located directly behind Hotel Iris. Don’t waste your money on this place.

We traveled here from The Woodlands, TX for my son's Marine boot camp graduation and my elderly parents chose to stay here for privacy and a quiet space away from the family. I found the rooms to be exceptionally clean and the staff super courteous. They went above and beyond to make sure my parents stay was comfortable. If you have any issues with anything, just speak with Chris and he will do everything in his ability to accommodate your request all while providing you with the most professional customer service. If you are looking for an economical stay that offers quality accommodations, Hotel Iris is the place to be!
